  7. ASCWINDOWS is a windows application development system for character-based
  8. terminals connected to a UNIX based system. The toolbox allows for creation of
  9. windowing standards like windows, dialog box, pull-down menus, listboxes, edit
  10. boxes, mode selectors, and more. Applications developed around ASCWINDOWS are
  11. event-driven. ASCWINDOWS comes with runtime library, a resource compiler and
  12. keyboard compiler. Application resources are defined using resource definition
  13. language. ASCWINDOWS features default window procedures, which can be defined
  14. by the user, accelerator keys for faster input processing, user-configurable
  15. virtual keys for application customization, easy internationalization of
  16. applications, standard user interfaces across platforms, and simple naming
  17. conventions. ASCWINDOWS applications are terminal independent; they are
  18. portable to other systems, without modifying the source.
